The sixth Ubud Food Festival is all set to bring to the table a feast for the eyes, the heart, the soul, and of course, the stomach. In the year 2020, the UFF celebrates those who work tirelessly to put food on the table. It appreciates the ones who play a critical role in crafting and carrying forward a nation’s culture through its culinary legacy.
With the help of Chris Salans and other renowned chefs, Ubud festival 2020 is all set to celebrate the mothers, fathers, and grandparents who contribute to provide food rich in history and taste to their loved ones. The festival’s central theme is to honor those that have honored the diversity of the Indonesian culture.
These unsung heroes have brought us the complex flavors of Indonesia for decades in a way that we have come to love. From April 17th-19th, we acknowledge their contributions and present them with traditional Indonesian characters with a modern French twist under the stars in Mozaic’s tropical garden.
Ubud Food Festival Special Event – Best of the Fest
The food festival‘s special event, Best of the Fest, brings to you a six-course tasting menu prepared by chef Chris Salans, Paul Carmicheal (Graduate of the Culinary Institute of America), Matt Abergel (Co-Owner and Executive chef of Yardbird Hong Kong), and Vietnamese-Australian chef Khanh Nguyen.
Chris Salans will be hosting one of the biggest events in Ubud at his award-winning restaurant Mozaic. For IDR 1,300,000, you can enjoy a six-course tasting menu consisting of rich Indonesian flavors with a modern French twist added by the Master Chef Chris Salans.

Every culture has one unique ingredient that is integral to its cuisine. Suna Cekuh is one essential ingredient that’s present in almost all Balinese dishes. This spicy ginger paste is the essence of traditional Indonesian food.
If you want to know more about the sauce and how to create it, you are in for a treat at the Ubud festival. Watch as Chris Salans, and the Mozaic team prepare the aromatic paste that pairs well with their world-famous dishes.

Chris Salans – Local Culinary Legend
He is one of Indonesia’s top chefs renowned for his contributions to the Balinese cuisine. Chris regularly represents the Indonesian culture in international food festivals and media. He is a Le Cordon Bleu trainee and has worked in Michelin Star restaurants. The Master Chef hails from the United States but has received the majority of his training from France.
He found his true calling with his pioneering style of French-techniques-meets-Balinese-flavors, which is the creative concept behind one of the best Ubud restaurants, Mozaic Restaurant Gastronomique. The success of the restaurant is what has earned him well-deserved fame across the island.
You will see the living legend live in action at one of the biggest food events in Ubud, where he will not only host the best of the fest but will also be seen live in action. The festival is your chance to get front seat action of the creative process behind this famous Ubud restaurant.
