Hello from Chris Salans in Bali

It is with great pleasure that I send you our quarterly e-newsletter from the Chris Salans Group. Bali has been busy over the last few months and a lot is happening on the culinary scene of Bali. It’s a pleasure to see Bali and especially Ubud becoming a hub on the world scene of gastronomy. To push along this movement, Mozaic, Spice by Chris Salans and myself will be hosting and participating to many events to help promote Bali, its wonderful produce and people. We hope to see many of you along our path to champion Bali.

Mozaic X Odette

Mozaic will be hosting a very special 4-hands dinner with Odette restaurant of Singapore and Chris Salans. The dinner will be held at Mozaic on 20 September 2019.

Odette, a Modern French restaurant located in Singapore has just been recognized as the No.1 ‘best restaurant in Asia’ by the San Pellegrino Awards 2019. The theme of the dinner is “Childhood Memories” of the two Chefs will be presenting a 6-course tasting menu plus canapés and petit fours.

Arak & Spice 3.0
September 13th

On 13 September 2019 there will be a special night event, called Arak & Spice 3.0. Guest mixologist – Haris Jarrot from Sake No Hana – will create 4 cocktails to be paired with 4 modern Indonesian dishes from chef owner Chris Salans himself in the kitchen. The cocktails will also be available a al carte at 85K each from 9.30pm until midnight. The drinks will incorporate high-quality Arak and Brem furnished by the local producer Dewi Sri Company.

Spice Night Bar
Now open till midnight every night

The Chris Salans Groups is adding spice to the night life in Ubud with extended operational hours until midnight, turning it into the perfect night bar spot. After 10 pm, Spice Bar features a special menu of cocktails based on fresh local ingredients and innovative Indonesian finger foods. A special feature is its inspired use of the traditional Balinese libations Arak and Brem in their cocktails in the effort to champion local Balinese produce and culture.

Chef’s Tour de Bali

The Chris Salans Group has an exciting new idea for expanding Bali’s allure as a culinary destination. Chefs from Mozaic Restaurant are holding a series of 4-hand dinners in collaboration with chefs from prestigious hotels around the island. The initiative is called ‘Chef’s Tour de Bali’. The idea is to share knowledge and experience with hotels in Bali, so we can learn from each other and promote high-end Bali cuisine to the guests staying there.

A Tribute to Anthony Bourdain 2.0

For the 2nd year now Chris Salans will be hosting 12 celebrity chefs from Indonesia as well as a Spice by Chris Salans cocktail bar for the annual Anthony Bourdain charity festival which will be taking place at The Lawn at Hatten wines building in Sanur on September 24th 2019 from 4pm until 10pm. Hope to see you there for a blast of fun, great food and great company.

Jakarta Culinary Feastival

Master Chef Chris Salans alongside with many other of his colleagues in Bali will be representing Bali at the annual Jakarta Culinary Feastival at Senayan City in Jakarta from October 3rd to October 6th. The theme this year is IN BLOOM celebrating food ingredients that are currently in season in Indonesia, as well as highlighting culinary trends and movements that currently make the most influence amongst the Indonesian culinary market.
